What is WellApps?
Imagine your personal physician was with you 24 hours a day for a month to witness the symptoms of your chronic illness. He/she would be able to keep you feeling well.

WellApps creates this effect virtually, using mobile and online symptom tracking applications. Patients can log their symptoms using our simple apps (WellApps) and participating physicians can see their patients’ data in real-time.

Furthermore, de-identified data can be collected anonymously and shared with researchers to make progress in the treatment of chronic illnesses.

Current WellApps Products:

GI Monitor
Inflammatory Bowel Disease – Crohn’s and Ulcerative Colitis.

Danielle, from We Are Crohn's - I just got it! This is AWESOME. I have been keeping my CDAI in an excel spreadsheet. No more excel for me!

Kello82 from crohnsforum.com - i love that gi monitor.
very cool, it would come in so handy when you are filling out the mandatory paperwork at the start of every dr appt...symptoms worse, better, pain scale, med changes, etc. I can never remember that stuff

Kyle, from We Are Crohn's - This app is a life saver. I have a crazy life and my can never find time to write down this stuff for my next gi appointment.

Droid

Hi Emily. Thanks for the inquiry. While we don't have Droid scheduled right now, we will be releasing a mobile web-based app. which should work well for Droid.

Fix needed

Hi @ GI. Tried to add second custom symptom but found chart only added first. Deleted to replace with a new one . All worked but chart continues to display first and not second. I deleted the data relating to the first custom symptom in the hope it would allow rha chart to display the second. Not happening. Help. Thanks for a great product. Sent from iPhone.

iPhone Chart & Custom Symptoms

Thanks for the feedback and glad you like the app. You are correct. The chart on the iPhone will only display one custom symptom. This is a design issue that we are addressing for our next release. You can, however, view all of your custom symptoms on the online chart when you log onto our site.

GI Monitor can be used for IBS

Realizing that IBD is much more severe than IBS, I'd like to make a comment that GI monitor can be used for IBS as well. Besides GI monitor, I've found an online support group called IBSgroup.org full of people that might benefit from the app.

There are many people who suffer from IBS (a reported 20% of the population), and unfortunately like IBD, there seem to be few places to find answers.

GI monitor is a very nice tool. Glad that you developed it.

Software bug

I love this app! It's a great help to see what is exactly that upsets my crohn's. I've only run into problems when entering details of a past meal. If not done in a specific order, it won't save the information I typed. It has to be typed the time of the meal, what the meal is then the ease of digestion for the info to keep. Any deviation will cause the meal details to be lost.

meal logging bug

John - thanks so much for the feedback. Our dev team will look at this immediately and issue a fix if the problem is confirmed.

Suggestions

Love this app! I have two suggestions...

1. It would be great if in the Settings the normal quantity # of bowel movements could be set per week instead of (or in addition of) per day. My normal # is 3-4 per week (which is less than 1 per day but more than 0), therefore my status report is not so accurate, specially when I have a flare up and my # changes to 1-2 times a day.

2. It would also be great if the pain could also be logged specifically by area/region in addition to the level of intensity currently available. For example, I sometimes have nausea and abdominal cramps, sometimes I just have the cramps and sometimes I just have lower pelvic pain associated to just the rectum which is a pain very different from a higher gut cramping pain.

Thanks so much! Keep up the good work!

Suggestions

Thanks so much for the feedback! They are great suggestions and they are now in our list.

re: Pain - we have received requests for location before. Please note that you can add notes to any log. This is what I, myself, do for pain location. On the iPhone, its the notepad icon in the upper right of any logging screen.

re: nausea or other symptoms, I recommend using our new "custom symptom" logging feature. This is what I do for nausea now. It is now available in our newest release!

Please keep the suggestions coming.

Best,
Brett

Notes are great!

Being able to add notes to the symptoms and stuff is great. Sorry I missed that before. I will definitely be using that form now on to jot down subtleties in my logs.

One thing I noticed with the update is the pain grading buttons changed from Low-Med-High to Good-Medium-Bad. This made me sad, so many other improvements were added but this one change really didn't make sense to me. How is pain or nausea or any other related symptom ever good? I would love to see the Low-Med-High back or perhaps None-Low-Med-High/Bad because that would work best in general for all symptoms. Please?

Also, the poop consistency (form) change from Normal-Mixed-Lose to Good-Medium-Bad, this change I could get used to but I think the grading of Normal-Mixed-Lose is much more accurate. I shall be using my notes for this one too.

Thanks so much for all the hard work on this app! The new design with the icons is pretty cool!

re: feedback

Appreciate the feedback. re: Pain levels. This is "none, medium, high". Not sure why you may have thought it changed to "good, medium, bad". We only made this change on stool form since many people have different perspectives of what makes a good stool form. We also changed all custom symptoms to these levels since we can't predict what symptoms will be logged. Glad you liked the latest release...much more coming soon. Please keep the feedback coming. As you know, its what shapes our development.
